Our Special Computer Appeal

The London Jewish Family Centre is creating a unique computer facility for special needs children and children with specific learning disabilities.

The computers will be used regularly at our integrated Fun Days by the special needs children of STEP North West and Kisharon.

Special needs children including those with Autism, Downs and other syndromes, require computers with special modifications in order to reach their maximum potential.

We have been in touch with the Aidis Trust (who specialize in advising and providing computers and accessories for special needs children and adults) and have taken advice on the best computers and accessories to buy.

The cost of each computer, special mouse, keyboard with keyboard guard and flat screen is £988. Add to that the cost of a new server, printers, and the installation costs and we are looking at a total bill of £13,500 for a facility of 10 computers.

Once these computers are in place we will be able to offer further facilities – like homework clubs - for all children, which will further help the families in Barnet, Enfield and Harrow.

Within an annual budget of £200,000, of which 85% is raised by donations, there is no room for providing a facility of this kind. We hope you will help us make this building into the Centre that the community needs and deserves.

We look forward to your generous support!
